Artemis 1 Takes Off to the Moon

The launch that all of us have been waiting for has finally happened. The Artemis 1 moon orbit mission has launched and is in progress.

On November 16, the Artemis 1 moon mission was launched. There were two previous launch attempts that were scrubbed so NASA aimed for November 16. The Artemis 1 mission is scheduled to reach the moon and enter deep space on November 21.

The Orion spacecraft has a very strong signal communication with mission control. Orion turned on Amazon’s Alexa more than halfway to the moon! To me that is just insane.

The mission was an unmanned mission but NASA sent along a little test dummy. The dummy was wearing something that looked like an official spacesuit. Hopefully the dummy will survive until the capsule gets back down to earth.
